The group of participants in the NAT0 Advanced Study Institute "From Identification to Learning" held at Villa Olmo, Como, Italy, from August 22 to September 2, 1994. This school was devoted to the themes of identification, adaptation and learning, as they are commonly understood in the information and control engineering community. The lectures were collected in the book "Identification, Adaptation, Learning - The Science of Learning Models from Data", published in 1996 by Springer Verlag (with S. Bittanti and G. Picci editors). On the background, one can see the front of Villa Olmo. This villa, facing Lake Como, is surrounded by a beautiful park. Here operates the "Centro di Cultura Scientifica Alessandro Volta", an institution established by the town of Como in 1983, providing support for the organization of meetings and conferences.
